With a waste diversion rate in 2004 of over 32% the county is proud to offer its residents computer and electronic recycling during special events and its newly established on-going drop-off program for all residentially used electronics. On Saturday, November 12, 2005, in recognition and in celebration of America Recycles Day, the county held their annual Special e-Cycling Collection Event, sponsored by the Carroll County Commissioners and the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE). Nearly 400 vehicles arrived with residents willing to recycling their old computers and other electronics. Over 20 tons of computers, monitors, mice, keyboards and other electronics were collected.
Carroll County's on-going computer and electronic recycling program is located at the county's Northern Landfill, 1400 Baltimore Boulevard, Westminster.
